PBS buffer (phosphate-buffered saline) is widely used buffer in biology and biochemical research. 1X PBS (2L) Buffer Powder Packets are a ready-to-use format for easy and reliable preparation of PBS buffer. Simply dissolve the contents in 2 L dH2O to prepare 2 L of 1X PBS.

Procedure

Prepare 1X PBS buffer by dissolving the contents of the buffer packet in 2 L of dH2O. 10X PBS may also be prepared by dissolving the contents in 200 mL of dH2O. The final composition of the 1X buffer will be 137 mM NaCl, 2.7 mM KCl, 10 mM phosphate, pH ~7.3 (do not adjust pH). PBS buffer may be stored at room temperature indefinitely as long as the solution remains clear.
